Dermatology
Would seeing below the surface of the skin help you? Syris Scientific has revolutionized the
visualization and treatment of skin and view conditions by allowing the
physician to see below the superficial layers of tissue. The ability to do so has increased procedural
accuracy and reductions of procedural time.

Dermatology Examinations: Examination of all skin to detect any
abnormalities below the surface including pigmented lesions, vascular
structure, etc. as well as evaluating surface contours when the instrument is
in paralell polarized mode. The instrument allows faster examinations, with
exam times being commonly reduced in excess of 15%, while enhancing detection capabilities and
reducing eye strain. Assuming a rate of
$150 per hour, with 4 hours per day of examinations, payback occurs in one
month or less. The instrument is also extremely
effective in examining patients with darker coloring, which normally presents a
challenge for the dermatologist. Looking
beyond the optical benefits, the lighting provided by the instrument has
several features for the General Dermatologist:
The illumination is extremely uniform.
This is critical in evaluating pigmentation. Second, the border of the illuminated area is
well defined. This allows the Doctor to
do facial examinations without blinding the patient. Third, the light is cooled not only by fan
but also by an infared filter. This
combination minimizes any heat damage to the patient’s skin; a common problem
with high powered lights. Lastly, this
source is brighter than almost all other non fiberoptic sources.
